MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Putting up a season-high 15 shots on goal, Pfeiffer University was able to convert three into goals scoring a 3-0 shutout victory over Barton College in Conference Carolinas women’s soccer action on Tuesday afternoon. The win marks the eighth-straight win in as many years for the Lady Falcons against the Lady Bulldogs improving 3-4 overall, 2-1 in league play, while Barton falls to 2-3, 2-2.
Pfeiffer needed just 66 seconds to jump on the board early in the first as Sheena Regan (Chesapeake, VA) pushed a long pass ahead to Ashley Harrington (Albemarle, NC) who found the back of the net inside the left post for a 1-0 lead. That margin would stand through the rest of the half as the Lady Falcons defense didn’t allow a single Lady Bulldog shot in the first 45 minutes.
Just before the hour in the 59th minute, Tish Patino (East Bend, NC) would take a rebound allowed by Barton keeper Carson Moore (Greenville, NC) and register her first of the season also left post for a two-goal advantage. Insurance in the 64th minute came as Alex Cook (Commack, NY) put home her first as the play began in the corner. Alyssa Wombwell (Grand Blanc, MI) touched the corner kick in over to Megan Weston (Olathe, KS) who delivered the cross to Cook in front of the net for the goal.
Pfeiffer took 29 shots on the day, 15 on cage while holding Barton to just three. Two of the Lady Bulldog shots were fired on goal by sophomore Taylor Parrish (Smithfield, NC). Moore turned away a dozen shots in goal for Barton.
Three days off now await the Lady Falcons before bouncing back into league play on homecoming Saturday at N.E. Lefko Field. Pfeiffer will host Lees-McRae for a 2:00 p.m. kickoff with live stats available through http://www.gofalconsports.com.
