WOMEN'S TENNIS OPENS '11-'12 WITH 6-3 ROAD WIN; MEN'S TENNIS FALLS 7-2 AT CATAWBA

SALISBURY, N.C. – The Pfeiffer University women’s tennis team kicked off the 2011-2012 season with a 6-3 win at Catawba on Tuesday afternoon. On the men’s side, the Indians scored a 7-2 win as the Falcons even their record to 1-1.

The Lady Falcons scored two of the three available points in doubles action while taking home points in positions one, two, three and five of singles play. Taylor Lindsay needed a decisive third set to score the win at #2.

On the men’s side, Pfeiffer dug themselves an early hole losing all three doubles matches while picking up just two points in singles action. Sebastian Wernecke and Luis Villalta secured the Falcon points at number two and three positions as Wernecke also needed a third set for the win. Villalta rolled four and four at number three.

Both teams are back in action this Thursday hosting Wingate for a 2:30 p.m. match.
