LAURINBURG, N.C. - Paced by nine kills from Kelly Lancellot and Kim Amerell, Pfeiffer University scored a 3-0 (25-14, 31-29, 25-16) sweep at St. Andrews University on Tuesday night. The win snaps a brief two-game skid for the Lady Falcons as they improve to 7-7 overall, 4-3 in league play. St. Andrews, dropping their eighth-straight contest, dip to 2-14, 0-8.
Behind Lancellot and Amerell, freshman Jessica Homrich followed with a half-dozen kills. Cate Glendenning dished out 26 assists while also leading the way with 14 digs. Pfeiffer hit .242 in the match win against their eastern division opponent.
St. Andrews was led by Celia Duggan's nine kills and Megan Nelson's 13 assists. Allie Garland popped up a match-high 32 digs in the loss.
Pfeiffer returns to league play heading to Queens on Friday night. Friday marks an opportunity for the Lady Falcons to gain ground as the Royals currently stand atop of the Eastern Division standings heading into the 6:30 p.m. matchup.
