MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Pfeiffer University head softball coach Amy Yates has announced the hiring of Allie Marshall as the next assistant coach joining the Lady Falcons softball team. Marshall, a 2010 graduate of Catawba College, comes to Pfeiffer after one of the best four-year careers put together by anyone to play softball at Catawba.
Marshall completed her career in May leaving with nine different offensive records. Marshall left with the highest mark in hits for a season and career, RBI for a game, season and career, most home runs in a season and career, along with doubles in a career and slugging percentage in a season.
“I’m very excited to have Coach Marshall joining our program,” stated Coach Yates. “She was not only a tremendous player while in college, but she has a great knowledge of the game and has already learned a lot about what it takes to be a great coach.”
In 208 games covering 631 at-bats, Marshall hit a career .376 with 43 long balls and 202 runs driven in. Marshall racked up 237 hits, 52 of those doubles, while crossing the plate 129 times. Last season, Marshall finished the year ranked inside the nation’s top-10 in RBI per game (6th) and sacrifice flies (7th).
Ironically, the Lady Falcons will open up the 2012 season with Marshall’s former teammates at Catawba in Salisbury on February 15th beginning at 1:30 p.m.
