BANNER ELK, N.C. - Lees-McRae College shot a lights out 63% in the first half while limiting Pfeiffer University to just 27% during a 70-61 win in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon. The Bobcats improve to 2-9 overall, 2-1 in league play snapping a 17-game losing streak against the Falcons while the black and gold fall to 8-5, 2-1.
The Bobcats converted 17 of their 27 shots, six of which were from behind the arc, as BJ Battle led the way with 11. Pfeiffer managed just six made field goals for the first 20 minutes. The Falcons made a strong push late in the second half getting as close as three with 2:10 remaining after a fastbreak layup by Danny Smith, but an ensuing Falcon technical foul and three free throws by Lees-McRae pushed the lead back out to six en route to the nine point win.
DJ Brown led LMC with 14 points as one of three in double-figures. Reggie Hollinger led all scorers with 21 points.
The Falcons will look to rebound on Wednesday night getting back inside division play with a trip to Queens at 7:30 p.m. Due to a new gym facility being constructed at Queens, Wednesday's game will also be at the nearby Grady Cole Center.
