CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Host Queens held Pfeiffer University to 32% shooting on the night during an 80-65 victory in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action on Wednesday night inside the Grady Cole Center. The Royals improve to 9-5 overall and remain a perfect 4-0 in league play while the Falcons drop to 8-6, 2-2.
The lone bright spot for the Falcons came early as a three-pointer by Reggie Hollinger put Pfeiffer up 3-1 for their only lead of the night. Queens would bolt out on a quick 14-3 run to grab a nine-point lead. A pair of three's by Danny Smith and jumper by Tayron Gibson got the Falcons to within three, but the Royals jumped back out quickly carrying a 10-point lead into halftime.
A Smith basket and Jerod Wallace triple cut the deficit down to a half-dozen with 14:32 remaining until a 14-5 stretch shot the Royals back up 14 midway through the second. From the 10-minute mark on, Queens held a healthy double-digit lead until the final horn and their 15-point win.
Daniel Bailey led all scorers with 25 points for Queens as one of four players in double-figures. Antonio Stabler posted the only double-double of the night with 11 points and 11 boards for the hosts who shot 45% from the field. Hollinger paced the Falcons with 24 while Smith chipped in with 10.
