HARRIS CAPS COMEBACK WITH WALK-OFF TWO-RUN SINGLE IN THE NINTH; FALCONS BETTER TEAM IN 5-4 WIN OVER NORTH GREENVILLE

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Justin Harris capped off a four-run bottom of the ninth with a walk-off two-run single into left as Pfeiffer University finally took care of North Greenville 5-4 in Conference Carolinas baseball action on Friday afternoon. The Falcons, who were close all day long, improve to 15-10 overall, 6-4 in league play while the Crusaders lose their third-straight plummeting to 16-9, 8-2.

Having plenty of chances all afternoon, Pfeiffer finally took control in the ninth as Preston Lyon began the frame with a solo shot to left-center, cutting the deficit in half 4-2. Aarin Sharpe, Jacob Yates and Kevin Price would each follow by reaching on a hit-by-pitch, single and walk, while Jon Gray followed with his own free pass to bring in Sharpe with the easy run and a 4-3 game. Harris would then deliver the game-winner on a 1-0 pitch into left to complete the comeback.

North Greenville would use a RBI-single from David Frazier in the first and a Falcon fielding error in the second to take a 2-1 lead as Pfeiffer’s first run came in their half of the first on a Dalton Lindley double to right-center. The Crusaders scored what they thought would be insurance runs in the sixth and ninth frames.

Harris would finish with a 3-for-5 day at the plate for the Falcons while Yates also added a pair of hits. Pfeiffer out-hit North Greenville 10-9 while helping strand 12 Crusaders on the base paths.

Both teams will meet again on Saturday for a pair of league contests starting at 12:00 p.m. Live stats will be available for both games at http://www.gofalconsports.com.
