MISENHEIMER, N.C. - Indiana University of Pennsylvania used an overtime goal by Alexa Lodovici with four seconds remaining to complete a 20-19 victory over #15 Pfeiffer University in women's lacrosse action on Sunday afternoon. The victory pushes the Crimson Hawks to 2-1 overall while the Lady Falcons drop to 4-5.
Pfeiffer had to rally over the final 8:31 of regulation down 18-14 just to force the overtime period. Shannon Bonnel started the comeback while Rachel Hebberd made it a two-goal game with 6:14 to play. Hebberd would then turn around an assist on Kristi Korn and Sarah Daly goals 1:07 apart from each other to tie things up at 18-18 and force the extra session.
In OT, Hebberd would notch a free position goal while Stephanie Bianco did the same for IUP. The Lady Falcons would have their chances in the disappearing seconds of overtime before Lodovici scored her game-winner.
Pfeiffer led 9-5 after the first half of play while the Crimson Hawks rallied to out-score the Lady Falcons 13-9 in the second half. Pfeiffer held the overall advantages in shots, groundballs, free position goals and clears. The Crimson Hawks held the higher marks in draw controls, fouls and turnovers, still rallying for the win.
The Lady Falcons will jump back into Conference Carolinas play traveling to Belmont Abbey on Thursday for a 4:00 p.m. matchup.
