MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The Pfeiffer University tennis teams scored their first wins in Conference Carolinas play as the men scored a 6-2 victory and women 6-2 over Belmont Abbey on Tuesday afternoon. The men improve to 4-10, 1-4 in league play while the Lady Falcons move to 5-8, 1-4. Both matches ended with one singles match unfinished due to thunder and lightning in the area.
On the men's side, Pfeiffer won two of three doubles matches with Ben Hunter/Luis Villalta scoring an 8-1 win while Ethon Lyon and Diego Oliveira came back for a 9-7 victory.
In singles, all five finished matches belonged to the Falcons as Hunter needed three sets to pull off a win. Hunter rolled 6-0 in the opening set before notching a 6-4 third set win after a 6-2 loss in the middle. Villalta, Oliveira and Orlando Castillo each won in straight-sets.
In women's action, Alena Krutkina/Taylor Lindsay won 8-1 at #1 doubles while Chelsi Haefele/Briana Oliver won 8-4 at #2. In singles, the same four players won in straight-sets.
