MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Pfeiffer Athletics is pleased to announce that Micki Thompson, Assistant Director of Athletics, Director of Compliance, and Senior Woman Administrator has been selected to attend the NCAA/NACWAA Institute for Administrative Advancement (IAA), June 3-7 at the Dolce Atlanta Peachtree Hotel.
The IAA is the premier level NCAA/NACWAA leadership, educational and professional development program for women in intercollegiate athletics administration. It provides an engaging faculty, including athletics administrators representing all NCAA divisions and pioneers in women’s athletics, conduct informative, interactive sessions ranging from the history of women in athletics, Title IX and legal issues to diversity, managerial leadership, and fundraising. Thompson was also selected as a recipient of a NACWAA Grant to attend the Institute. In 2011, a total of eight grants were awarded to participants of the IAA.
Additionally, Thompson has represented Pfeiffer University as a facilitator for the NCAA DII Leadership Academy in the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 academic years. In this role, Thompson helped educate and engage student-athletes, coaches, and administrators from across the country in various aspects associated with leadership and personal development.
The National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators (NACWAA) is the leading advocacy organization that empowers, develops, assists, celebrates, affirms, involves and honors women working in all fields of intercollegiate athletics and takes a pro-active role in advancing women into positions of influence.
Thompson, who has been in the Pfeiffer Athletics department for 12 years, graduated from Pfeiffer achieving both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
