HIGH POINT, N.C. – Pfeiffer University’s Caleb Brophy (Mission Viejo, CA) has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas Men’s Volleyball Player of the Week during week number six of the 2012 season. Brophy helped the Falcons to a 3-1 week in league play giving the Falcons at-least a share of the Conference Carolinas regular season title and home-court advantage in the first round of the league's tournament.
Brophy put down 13 kills in the Falcons' only league loss of the season at Limestone popping up 16 digs and leading the way with his 14 points. In a five-set win at King, Brophy scored 17 kills with 18 points, another match high. Taking on Mount Olive at home he hit a match-high .524 with 13 kills as the Falcons rolled the two-time defending league champs 3-0.
Hosting Lees-McRae, Brophy again took over with 16 kills hitting .400 adding seven more digs and match-high 18 points. In all four matches, Brophy led with his point totals on the night. For the week he hit .308 with 59 kills while recording 28 digs averaging just fewer than two a set. He also led the way with his 64 points averaging just over four points per set.
Brophy and the Falcons can clinch the outright regular season title and home court advantage throughout the playoffs on April 11th hosting Barton for senior night. The Falcons are currently 18-6 on the season, 8-1 in conference play.
