HIGH POINT, N.C. – Pfeiffer University's Jodie Lemons has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas Women’s Basketball Player of the Week during week five of the 2012 – 2013 Basketball season. Lemons put together a career week that included a new career-high in scoring while tying a school-record from behind the arc during a perfect 3-0 week for the Lady Falcons.
The sophomore's week started with 13 points on 39% shooting from the floor in a big 84-58 win over region-foe Mars Hill. Lemons would follow up Monday with a career-high 28 points on 47% shooting from the floor that included eight triples in her 12 attempts (67%) which tied a 24-year-old school record.
As a team, Pfeiffer would set a new mark for 16 triples in the 87-59 win over Barber Scotia with Lemons knocking down eight. The guard also added eight rebounds, six on the offensive side of the floor, in the win. To cap off her career week, Lemons dropped 22 at region-rival Catawba adding six more threes shooting 60% from behind the arc in a thrilling 78-76 against the Lady Indians. Lemons would hit three triples in a two-minute span just past the midway point of the second half to help give Pfeiffer breathing room at Catawba. Once again, Lemons came up just shy of her second-straight double-double chipping in with seven rebounds, five again coming while on offense. Wednesday and Saturday marked the first time in her young career where she scored 20+ points in consecutive games.
For the week, Lemons averaged 21 points per game on 42% shooting from the field, 54% from long range, hitting on a total of 15 threes in the three-game stretch. Lemons would convert all four free throw attempts taken during the week while pulling down a total of 19 rebounds, 14 of them offensive.
Lemons and the rest of the Lady Falcons will now enjoy the winter break before getting back to action in the New Year on Saturday, January 5th. Pfeiffer will host Erskine in Conference Carolinas action starting at 2:00 p.m.
