MEN'S VOLLEYBALL HANGS WITH #6 PENN STATE FALLING 3-0 TO NITTANY LIONS

UNIVERSITY PARK, P.A. - Penn State, ranked #6 in the nation, snapped Pfeiffer University's five-match win streak with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-18) victory in NCAA I men's volleyball action on Friday night. The victory sends the Nittany Lions to 7-1 on the year while the Falcons fall to 5-2.

Pfeiffer scored the first point of each set with a Penn State attack error, kill from Caleb Brophy and kill from Micah Bortner. The Falcons would have a late 18-17 set two lead on another Brophy kill. A two-point swing starting at 19-19 gave the Nittany Lions just enough breathing room in their 25-22 second set victory.

Brophy led all attackers with 12 kills on the evening while Bortner followed with seven. David Specian led in the assists department with 25 while libero Mark Hess popped up seven digs. Scott Kegerreis would lead Penn State with 11 kills in the match. Defensively, Pfeiffer would outblock Penn State in the team category 6-5.

The Falcons will quickly get back to action on Saturday traveling to St. Francis for a 7:00 p.m. matchup. Live stats will be available through http://www.gofalconsports.com.
