KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - The second and final round of the Irish Creek Intercollegiate at The Club at Irish Creek has been canceled on Tuesday which means the Belmont Abbey "B" team finishes in the top spot of the rain-shortened event. Pfeiffer University's "A" team concludes tied for fifth while the "B" team wraps up tied for 14th.
Belmont Abbey's "B" team shot a nine-over 293 as a team on the 6,971-yard, par 71 layout to finish three shots ahead of Brevard College at 296. Kim Koivu of Brevard becomes the medalist after his three-under round of 68 on Monday.
For Pfeiffer's fifth place team, freshman Ryan Franklin led the way posted a pair of 37's for a 74. Fellow freshman David Weinberger wrapped up one shot behind at 75. Tyson Louth concluded with a 76 while Chad Nicholson and Thomas Sennett followed with a 78 and 82, respectively.
Ben Tobey led the Pfeiffer "B" team posting a Monday round of 78 followed by J.D. Lamm's 82. Tyler Atkins (89), Austin Kiker (91), and Matt Allen (92) concluded "B" team scoring on Monday.
Men's golf will get back to action next Monday and Tuesday traveling to the Richard Rendleman Invitational hosted by Catawba College in Salisbury.
