LINDLEY POWERS BASEBALL TO SATURDAY SPLIT AT ERSKINE; FALCONS TAKE TWO OF THREE IN WEEKEND SET

DUE WEST, S.C. - Pfeiffer University finished off a solid weekend of Conference Carolinas baseball taking two of three at Erskine College with a 2-0 game one win before falling 12-8 in the nightcap. The Falcons improve to 5-13 overall, 2-2 in league play while the Fleet move to 11-6, 2-3.

In the opener, all Pfeiffer started Tyler Ring needed was a pair of runs in the top of the second and he'd take care of the rest. Ring would toss a complete-game seven-hitter with seven strikeouts. Offense in the second came thanks to Dalton Lindley as an Izzy Perez single paid off when Lindley blasted a two-out, two-run homer. Erskine would threaten in the fifth with back-to-back leadoff singles followed by a sacrifice bunt that put runners at second and third with one out. Ring would then get a pop out to short and groundball to second getting out of the jam.

Things turned ugly in game two for the Falcons as a 6-3 lead at the seventh-inning stretch quickly flipped to an 11-6 Erskine lead as the Fleet scored eight runs in the home half of the seventh. Pfeiffer would committ three errors in the game which resulted in nine unearned runs for the Fleet. Jon Gray led the Falcons in game two going 3-for-5 with three runs scored. Aarin Sharpe would finish the weekend with a 2-for-5 outing with three RBI.

Pfeiffer returns to midweek non-conference action on Wednesday traveling to Mars Hill before hosting Lake Erie on Thursday afternoon.
