MISENHEIMER, N.C. - Four goals by Carly Garrison, including the go-ahead goal with 16:16 remaining in the second half, allowed #14 Pfeiffer University to knock off #2 Le Moyne 10-8 in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon. The Lady Falcons improve their school-best start to a season at 6-0 after the program's biggest victory on Wednesday. The Dolphins fall to 2-1 with the loss.
Brenna Bauer and Le Moyne struck first 7:41 into the first half before Kristina Anderson and Garrison hit back-to-back 46 seconds apart. After the Dolphins' Victoria Nies and Bauer put the visitors back up one, reigning player of the week Sarah Daly tied the contest at 3-3 with 7:50 remaining in the half.
Le Moyne would get the upper hand back and carry a 5-4 lead into the half after Kaitlyn Armstrong and Kelly Condon found the back of the net over the final 6:38 while the Lady Falcons Gracie Herbert scored with 28 seconds left to give Pfeiffer a bit of momentum heading into the final 30 minutes.
Garrison would sore with equalizer 7:26 into the second, Shannon Bonnel would put the Lady Falcons up one at 6-5 three minutes later against the Dolphins again responded with another Condon goal at the 16:58 mark. From there, Pfeiffer would bolt out on a 4-0 goal-scoring streak to find themselves up 10-6 with 6:56 to play. Garrison would score the first and fourth goals in that stretch while Kristi Korn and Anderson had the others.
Le Moyne would make things interesting late as Bauer struck again with 5:10 left in regulation while Condon made it a two-goal game with 58 seconds left. On the ensuing draw control, Bonnel would come up big for the Lady Falcons grabbing the draw as the Lady Falcons ran out the clock for a 10-8 victory.
Freshman keeper Cassidy Wilson would make six saves for the Lady Falcons in net which included four big saves in the second half. Garrison led all scorers with her four goals on Wednesday while Bonnel and Miller each recorded two assists. Bonnel and Garrison would each pick up a team-high three groundballs while Korn controlled four draws. Of Le Moyne's 18 turnovers, 12 were caused by the Lady Falcon defense. Bauer and Condon would lead the Dolphins with three goals apiece.
The Lady Falcons will now get back into Conference Carolinas play on Saturday heading to Erskine for a 1:00 p.m. matchup with the Fleet.
