BASEBALL SCORES EIGHT UNANSWERED RUNS TO TAKE 8-2 VICTORY OVER LENOIR-RHYNE AT CMC-NORTHEAST STADIUM

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - Turning the tables from their last meeting nearly two weeks ago, Pfeiffer University would score eight unanswered runs to take an 8-2 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne in non-conference baseball action at CMC-Northeast Stadium on Tuesday night. The Falcons move to 11-17 overall while dropping the Bears to 10-20.

Lenoir-Rhyne struck first with a pair of runs in the opening frame as Colton Hansley delivered a two-run double to left-center scoring Dalton Hall and Nate Martin. Hall began the game with a four-pitch walk while Martin picked up a base hit.

Pfeiffer got even with a run in the third and fourth as Jacob Yates singled home Dalton Lindley with an unearned run taking advantage of a Bears throwing error. An inning later in the fourth, Cole McGraw would trot in from third on a balk after initially reaching with a walk.

Yates would come up big in the fifth giving the Falcons a 4-2 lead doubling home Kevin Price and Lindley with a shot to the gap in left-center. Lindley and Price would both reach on a one-out walk before Yates' two-bagger.

Insurance in the eight came as Jon Gray and Aarin Sharpe reached on back-to-back singles both coming around on a Matt Wade single and bases-loaded hit-by-pitch by Kyle Hackney. Later, Price would deliver a two-out, two-run single to right completing the four-run eighth.

Yates and Gray led the Falcons with a pair of hits at the top of the order while Ethan Greene took care of the rest on the mound. Greene tossed eight innings on Tuesday allowing two runs on five hits while fanning nine in the win.

Pfeiffer gets back to action on Friday and Saturday traveling to North Greenville for a three-game Conference Carolinas series in South Carolina.
