MISENHEIMER, N.C. - For the 11th consecutive match, the Pfeiffer University women's tennis team came out with a win using a 9-0 shutout to topple Lees-McRae in Conference Carolinas action on Friday afternoon. The Lady Falcons move to 11-3 overall and remain perfect on top of the league standings at 7-0 while the Bobcats remain winless at 0-9, 0-4.
Briana Oliver/Melinda Athay started the day off with an 8-0 sweep at number three doubles to set the early tone while Hannah Watson/Chelsi Haefele cruised 8-1 in the number two position. Taylor Lindsay/Valeria Mendoza would roll 8-3 in the top spot carrying a 3-0 lead into singles play.
All six singles matches were decided in straight-sets as Haefele and Oliver didn't drop a single game in 6-0, 6-0 wins at number four and five singles. Kaleigh Featherstone cruised comfortably 6-0, 6-2 in the number six position while Lindsay and Watson coasted 6-2, 6-1 and one and one. Mendoza would have the toughest singles contest needing a 7-5, 6-3 win at number two to help complete the sweep.
