Misenheimer, N.C.- Pfeiffer University’s head golf coach, Elliot Gealy, has announced the 2013 signees who will be joining Pfeiffer’s men’s golf team. Nathan Bull, A.T. Cashwell, Dan Cowick, C.J. Dreyfuss, Taylor Hawfield, Jesse Vensel, Zach Weaver, and Kevin Yandle will all begin their collegiate golf careers at Pfeiffer this Fall.
“I am very excited for the future of the Pfeiffer Men’s Golf Program,” said Gealy. “We have eight excellent freshmen coming in for the Fall of 2013. This is a quality group that will push our returners and make our team more competitive in the future. I look forward to watching these student-athletes grow and become mature young men.”
Nathan Bull- (Candler, NC) Nathan was a four year starter for Enka High School in Candler, NC. He was a member on the All-Conference Team all four years, including MAC 3A/4A Conference Player of the Year his Jr. and Sr. year. He also led his team to a Conference Championship in 2012. Nathan has also been a member of his High School Basketball team for four years.
“I am really excited to have Nathan join our program in the fall. He is a solid player with a ton of athletic ability.”
A.T. Cashwell- (Concord, NC) A.T. is a four year starter for the J.M. Robinson Bulldogs. He is a two time Conference Player of the Year in the Rocky River Conference. A. T. has competed annually on the TYGA and other Carolinas Junior Tours.
“A.T. is a very talented young man. He has been very successful on the High School level and I look forward to seeing him improve and take his talents to the collegiate level.”
Dan Cowick-(Forestdale, MA) As a member of a 4-time Conference Championship team, Dan was a mainstay amongst the top five players. He has been recognized as a First Team All-Conference member for three consecutive years. In 2012, Dan capped off his High School Career with a Massachusetts High School Team Championship.
“Dan is an excellent student in the classroom as well as on the golf course. He comes from a winning tradition at Sandwich High School and I believe he will bring that same attitude to Pfeiffer.”
C.J Dreyfuss-(Yorktown, VA) C.J. had a very successful career at York High School in Yorktown, VA. He has been a valuable member of his High School Team, including Rookie of the Year in 2009. He also led his team to two District Championships in 2010 and 2011. C.J. is currently ranked 17th in the 2A Virginia State Rankings.
“C.J. is a very hard worker and will be a great addition to our golf team. He comes from very competitive background and that will serve him well at the next level.”
Taylor Hawfield-(Pheonix, AZ) Taylor was a four year starter on the Brophy High School Golf Team. The Broncos were the #1 ranked large Arizona High School golf team in the state in 2012. In junior golf, Taylor competed in several Southwest PGA Section events finishing as high as 12th in the state tournament.
“Taylor competed on a very successful high school team that won State Championships. He is great worker that will add to the depth and talent of this recruiting class.”
Jesse Vensel-(PA) Jesse is a quiet leader that played #1 on his High School Team all four years. He was All Conference as well as Section Co-Champion in 2012. Playing as an individual, he finished 25th in the State Finals in 2012. Jesse is an excellent student and has been selected as a National Scholar as well as a member of the National Honor Society.
“I love Jesse’s quiet determination. I have no doubt that Jesse will have a successful experience here at Pfeiffer University.”
Zach Weaver-(Williamsburg, VA) Zach was a four year starter on the Lafayette High School Golf Team. He was voted Team MVP as well as earning 1st Team All Region/District honors his last two years. He finished 1st in his District his Senior Year and completed his career with at 4th place finish at the 2A Virginia State Championships.
“I am really looking forward to Zach competing for Pfeiffer University. He had a lot of success in Junior golf and has all the tools to be successful playing collegiate golf.”
Kevin Yandle-(New Bern, NC) Kevin has been a late bloomer in golf, but has the drive and work ethic to be a strong contributor to our program. He has been a mainstay in his New Bern High School Golf team's starting five. In 2012 he led his team to a 7th place team finish and a 26th place finish individually at the 4A State Championships. Kevin has also been very successful in the classroom earning the honor of being a Duke TIP Program student.
