LANGE NAMED AS HEAD MEN'S LACROSSE COACH

Misenheimer, NC- Pfeiffer University is pleased to announce that Jason Lange has been named as the head coach of the Falcons' Men's Lacrosse team. Lange comes to Pfeiffer from Mars Hill College, where he served as the Defensive Coordinator for the Lions for four years. In his most recent season with Mars Hill, the Lions ended their season with a record of 11-3, the best in program history. During his entire career at Mars Hill, Lange assisted in leading the Lions to three consecutive Deep South Conference Regular Season Championships. The Lions were also ranked in the top 10 nationally in goals against average in 2010 and 2011 (643 and 7.47 per game, consecutively). The goals against average of 6.43 in 2010 was also the best in program history. In 2010, the Lions' man-down unit ranked number one in the country, killing off 83.9% of opponent's man up opportunities.

Lange has coached five All-American selections, 22 All Conference players, three Conference Player of the Year recipients, and one Conference Freshman of the Year recipient. He has also had three players drafted into the National Lacrosse League, and one player that signed with a Major League Lacrosse team.

Before becoming an assistant coach at Mars Hill, Lange was a defenseman for the Lions from 2004-2009. During his collegiate lacrosse career, the team won a Deep South Conference tournament championship in 2008 and the regular season title in 2009. In the summer of 2009, Lange represented the USA at the Berlin Open in Germany and led the team to a championship game appearance. Lange graduated in December of 2009 with a Bachelor's degree in physical education and a minor in coaching.

When asked about Jason Lange, Vice President of Athletics/Athletic Director Bob Reasso said, "We are really happy to have Jason take over our lacrosse program. We have a history of success in lacrosse and we believe that Jason is the right coach to continue that tradition and to move the program to another level. We had a great pool of candidates, but it was clear to us right away that Jason was the right choice for us."
