MISENHEIMER, N.C. – For the second time in a four-day span, the Pfeiffer women’s volleyball team (4-13, 2-5 Conference Carolinas) was swept by Barton in conference play. The Bulldogs (6-7, 5-2) won the match by scores of 25-20, 25-17 and 25-21. Brianna Jones led the Lady Falcons offensively with eight kills.
The Bulldogs came out of the blocks strong, scoring the first eight points of the first set, and never looked back. Alex Ward served all eight of those points, and later in the set, Amber Kelly served five straight tallies. The Lady Falcons closed the game to 16-13 on a kill by Jones, but were unable to pull any closer.
The second set was back-and-forth until the Bulldogs rattled off seven straight points and rolled to the eight-point victory.
The Lady Falcons were very competitive in the third set, but were unable to break through. Pfeiffer rallied after giving up the first five points of the set, and cut the lead to 11-10 on a kill by senior Anna Vizvary. Barton would gain the upper hand and were looking to coast to a victory after grabbing a 19-15 lead. However, with their backs against the wall, the Lady Falcons roared back and cut the lead to 21-20 before ultimately falling, 25-21.
Emily Wall dished out 21 assists for Pfeiffer, and Haley Denny recorded 10 digs. Vizvary led the squad with two blocks and added seven kills.
