MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Pfeiffer women’s soccer team (8-5) posted an impressive 3-1 victory over visiting Brevard (3-8-1) on a sunny afternoon at NE Lefko Field on Wednesday afternoon. Kaitlin Sampson, Jocelyn Weiner and Alexa Eclipse all scored goals for the Lady Falcons in the 3-1 victory, running Pfeiffer’s winning streak to four in a row.
Sampson put the Lady Falcons on the scoreboard in the 42nd minute as she lofted a ball from 30 yards out just over the outstretched fingertips of the Tornados goalkeeper. With 39 seconds left in the half, Weiner took a perfect cross from Leticia Patino at the post and found the back of the net for her second score of the season.
At the break, Pfeiffer held a 7-3 advantage in shots and a 4-1 lead in corners.
The lead would be cut in half in the 63rd minute as Elena Crowe came down on a breakaway and beat senior goalkeeper Natalie Marsh. The goal was the first Marsh has allowed all season, breaking a span of 377 minutes without allowing a score.
The Lady Falcons would respond with less than 10 minutes remaining in the contest as Eclipse’s header gave Pfeiffer the 3-1 lead. Freshman Brae Buster was credited with the assist on the score.
Marsh would end the contest with one save and improved to 5-0 on the season. Brittany Webster made three stops in the loss.
For the match, Pfeiffer held a 21-12 lead in shots, including a 14-9 discrepancy in the second half. Pfeiffer took eight corner kicks compared to two for the Tornados.
The Lady Falcons return to action on Saturday evening when they travel to Spartanburg, SC to take on Converse in Conference Carolinas action. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
