MISENHEIMER, N.C. – In one of their most impressive showings of the season, the Pfeiffer men’s soccer team (6-6-1) ran its record to .500 with a 5-1 victory over Brevard (3-8) on Wednesday afternoon at NE Lefko Field. The Falcons got two goals from Trevor Dean and two assists from Aldo Ramirez to pick up their sixth win of the season, Pfeiffer’s highest win total since the 2009 season.
Simon Leslie put the Falcons on the scoreboard in the 19th minute as he took a beautiful feed from Niko Andrade and deflected the ball past the Tornados' keeper. Just over five minutes later, Dean scored his first of the contest, off Ramirez’s corner kick as his header went past Juan Mascaro Jr. for the score.
The half would end with Pfeiffer up 2-0 and holding an 11-5 advantage in shots.
Eight minutes into the second half, freshman Nathan Regis would convert his third penalty kick of the past two games for Pfeiffer’s third goal of the match. The score was Regis’ team-leading fifth of the season. Ramirez would set up another goal, this one coming just 3:04 after the penalty kick, as Corey Davis put home the shot. 3:11 after that, Dean added his second score with the assist being credited to Luke Janes. Brevard’s lone score came in the 74th minute as Drew Gallowitch spoiled the shutout bid.
Nicolas Dulac made three stops and Miles Maynard was called on for the final 16:13 in net. Two Tornados keepers totaled eight saves on the afternoon.
The Falcons are back in action on Saturday afternoon at NE Lefko Field when they host St. Andrews at 3 p.m.
