MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Pfeiffer men’s soccer team (8-8-1) were shutout 4-0 by Queens (12-3-1) on an overcast Halloween afternoon at NE Lefko Field. Four different Royals scored a goal as the Falcons dropped to 5-3 at home. Queens had been ranked 11th in the nation prior to dropping back-to-back contests heading into today.
The Royals wasted little time getting on the board as Kevin Anderson scored 6:37 into the game. Pfeiffer had a scoring opportunity waved off due to an offside call in the middle of the first half. In the 34th minute, freshman keeper Nicholas Dulac made two diving saves to keeper Pfeiffer within striking distance heading into the break. Queens held and 8-5 advantage in shots and Pfeiffer held a 3-1 lead in corners through the first half.
The second half belonged to the visitors who tacked on three scores. Yannick Fischbach, Thiago Andraded and Ryan King scored, pushing the lead to 4-0.
For the match, Queens outshot Pfeiffer 13-10. Dulac made three stops in goal, while Montrell Morgan improved to 12-2 and secured his seventh shutout of the season, making four stops.
“Queens is a good team,” said first year Head Coach Bob Reasso. “They caught us on a bad day. We have played very well over the past eight matches, but struggled today. We will regroup and come ready to play on Saturday.”
Saturday is the home finale for the Falcons as they host William Peace at 3 p.m. Prior to the match, Pfeiffer will hold a ceremony honoring eight seniors.
