HARTSVILLE, SC – In their regular season opener, the Pfeiffer women’s basketball team (0-1) fell to Coker (1-0) by a final score of 71-57 on Saturday afternoon. Carter Williams paced the Falcons with 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field, including knocking down 4-of-5 attempts from the three point line.

Tanesha Stenson posted a double double for the Cobras, scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 rebounds and adding six assists. Four different players scored in double figures for Coker, led by 14 off the bench from Priscilla Fenty.

Pfeiffer shot 38 percent from the field but knocked down 54 percent from long distance. The Falcons were undone by 22 turnovers in the contest. Lauren White pulled down 10 boards and had four blocks in her Pfeiffer debut and Amy Steller added nine points and three rebounds in 15 minutes of action.

The Falcons got to the free throw line a staggering 32 times, but converted only 56.3 percent from the charity stripe. Coker also struggled, going 8-for-15 (53.3 percent) from the line.

The Cobras used a 14-3 run in the first half and pushed the lead to as many as 17 in the first half. Coker went into the break with a 36-21 lead.

The lead was extended to 59-35 at the 8:45 mark of the second half before Williams knocked down her fourth three of the day. Pfeiffer ended the game on a 12-4 run but ran out of time.

The Falcons return to action on Tuesday evening as they host Catawba at 7:30 p.m. in their home opener.
