MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The Pfeiffer women's basketball team (1-5) dropped a 70-51 contest to Francis Marion (4-1) on Tuesday evening at Merner Gymnasium. Three players scored in double figures for the Patriots, led by 14 each from Alexia Bell and Erin Pinkett. Dee Gray had 13 points and, along with teammate Pinkett, came one rebound shy of a double-double.
Carlisha Holivay scored 10 points off the bench for the Falcons and Lauren White added 10 points and four blocks.
The game was tight throughout the first half before Francis Marion pulled ahead by a score of 38-30 heading into the half.
On two separate occasions in the second half, the Falcons cut the lead to four points. Holivay's bucket in the lead trimmed the Patriot advantage to 42-38 at the 15:11 mark, but a 16-2 spurt put the game out of reach.
Pfeiffer shot 38.5 percent from the field and misfired on all nine three point attempts in the second half. The Falcons committed 20 turnovers in the game.
Francis Marion shot 37.7 percent from the floor and held a 43-36 advantage on the glass. The Patriots converted on 8-of-20 three point attempts (40 percent) and had 20 assists on 26 baskets.
Alexis Stallard added nine points and Hollie Boggs had seven for Pfeiffer.
The Falcons return to action when they take on Brevard at 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
