MISENHEIMER, N.C. – A pair of Pfeiffer seniors have been named to the 2014 InsideLacrosse.com Division II Preseason All-American team. Goalie Hayden Kirk was named to the first team, while midfielder Steven Tilmon earned second team honors. Kirk and Tilmon were both chosen as Honorable Mention All-Americans and named First-Team All-Conference selections at the conclusion of their junior seasons.
Kirk started 15 games in goal last season and tallied 174 saves and an 8.63 goals against average, both good for second in the conference. He posted a 13-4 record with a .765 winning percentage. Kirk recorded a season-high 15 saves in a 16-8 victory over Catawba on Feb. 27 and allowed six or fewer goals in five contests. Kirk was especially stout at home, allowing only 7.09 goals per game.
Tilmon finished the season as Pfeiffer’s second leading goal scorer with 31 tallies, while adding 12 assists and 43 points. Tilmon ended the season in the top 10 of the conference in goals, shots, and shots on goal. He turned up his production during conference play as his 16 goals and 24 points were third in the league.
The duo will begin their senior seasons on Feb. 8 as they host Florida Southern at noon. The entire list of preseason All-Americans can be found here.
