KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – The 2014 Irish Creek Invitational came to a conclusion on Tuesday as the 18-team field completed 36 holes of play. Pfeiffer finished tenth as the team shot a 47-over par 615, 29 strokes behind first place.
The Falcons finished just ahead of conference foe Erskine, as Erskine shot a 48-over par. Pfeiffer also finished ahead of conference competitor Belmont Abbey.
Newberry completed the tournament in first place with a score of 18-over par 586. There were three teams tied for second place as Barton, Erskine, and Limestone finished just three strokes behind Newberry.
Thomas Rowland of UNC Charlotte and John White of Lenoir-Rhyne were tied at the top of the leaderboard for individual play. Extra holes were played to determine the individual winner, with Thomas Rowland upending John White to win the individual award.
Pfeiffer was paced by freshman A.T. Cashwell who shot an 11-over par for the tournament which was good enough to finish tied for 31st in a field of 96 players. Cashwell shot an even par 71 for the third lowest round of the final day.
Pfeiffer Freshman Nathan Bull finished tied for 35th in the field as he shot a 12-over par and proved to be the Falcons number two golfer in the tournament.
Pfeiffer placed one more golfer in the top 50 field as Zach Weaver posted a 13-over par 155 score for the tournament, which was good enough to finish in a tie for 40th.
Pfeiffer returns to action March 3 as they travel to Salisbury for the Richard Rendlemen Tournament for a 12 p.m. shotgun start.
