DUE WEST, SC - The Pfeiffer women's basketball team (5-21, 4-14 CC) closed out its regular season with an 89-64 defeat at the hands of Erskine (14-12, 9-9) on Thursday night. The game was a makeup after the original contest was snowed out. Freshman Alexis Stallard finished off her rookie season with a strong performance, scoring 22 points and adding six rebounds and five steals. Stallard was joined in double figure scoring by teammates Amy Stellar and Ariana Tillman.
Stellar went 8-for-8 from the free throw line and Tillman finished with six rebounds and three steals.
Tara Potter was the star in this game as she recorded 17 points and 18 rebounds in only 18 minutes of play. Four different Erskine players finished in double figures as the Flying Fleet shot 46.3 percent from the floor.
Erskine dominated the rebounding battle, holding a 75-45 advantage as Pfeiffer converted 24.4 percent of their field goals.
The physical contest featured 54 fouls called and a combined 68 free throws attempted.
Erskine's Jana Dixon grabbed 12 rebounds off the bench in 15 minutes of game time. Kristine Giles finished with 13 points and Marnasha Eugene and Andrienne Bannerman each had 11.
Pfeiffer's defense forced the Flying Fleet into 34 turnovers on the night.
Stallard scored 17 of her 22 points in the second half as the guard hit three attempts from long range in the final 20 minutes.
Pfeiffer ends the season, which marked the first under the leadership of Head Coach Roy Dow. Junior guard Carter Williams finished as the team's leading scorer at 12.5 points per game, trailed by Stallard at 11.5. Southern California transfer Lauren White finished the season with 70 blocks in her first season with the Falcons, putting her atop the conference.
