MISENHEIMER, NC – The Pfeiffer men’s volleyball team (7-7, 5-2 CC) evened its overall record to .500 with a strong 3-0 victory at home against Belmont Abbey (2-13, 1-9) on Friday night. Sonny Hirini and Fabio Diniz each finished with 11 kills for the Falcons who hit .337 as a team.
Spencer Fournell paced the guests with 10 of his team’s 24 kills for the night. Belmont Abbey had 15 attack errors and five serving errors on the night.
Harrison Lutz handed out 37 assists and Hirini finished with a double-double as he had 10 digs.
The Falcons struggled with their serve, finishing with 13 errors, but that didn’t slow them down. Pfeiffer won by scores of 25-20, 25-15 and 25-19 on the night and finished with 44 kills.
Wyatt Hamilton added nine kills on the night and Michael Brewer had eight. On the defensive side, Lutz and Kevin Ecklund had five digs apiece. Freshman Evan Blair had three of Pfeiffer’s eight assisted blocks.
The Falcons return to action on Sunday as they travel to Coker to take on Sacred Heart and the host Cobras. Action begins at 2 p.m. with the second match beginning shortly after the conclusion of the first.
