MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Pfeiffer men’s tennis team (5-2) defeated Guilford (3-3) by a final score of 8-1 at the Knapp Tennis Center. Pfeiffer grabbed five of their wins in singles play and swept through doubles competition to cap off the evening.
Pfeiffer handled doubles competition with ease as the team of Loic Minery and Sebastian Wernecke claimed the first point by a score of 8-3 in the number one position. The duos of Stephen Miller and Bret Williams and Orlando Castillo and Axel Woerner capped off doubles competition by defeating their counterparts by scores of 8-2 and 8-5.
Minery started off the singles play with a win in the number one spot as he defeated his opponent in straight sets by scores of 6-4, 6-0. With the win Minery improves to 6-1 on the season.
Pfeiffer finished the singles play going 4-for-5 as Woerner, Wernecke, Jimmy Molina, and Miller defeated their opponents to seal the Pfeiffer victory.
Guilford received their one point in the number six position as Blake Brown defeats Williams in three well fought sets by scores of 2-6, 6-4, 10-4.
Pfeiffer returns to action Tuesday, March 11 as they host West Virginia Wesleyan. The match is slated to begin at 2:30 p.m.
