MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Pfeiffer women’s tennis team (8-0) defeated Guilford (3-3) by a final score of 9-0 this evening at the Knapp Tennis Center.
Pfeiffer swung off to a good start as they swept through doubles competition to grab the 3-0 advantage. The team of Valeria Mendoza and Taylor Lindsay along with the pair of Olivia Nelms and Hannah Watson won by scores of 8-0 each in the first and second doubles. Mylene Petitpas and Amanda Long topped off doubles play as they won by a final score of 8-1 in third doubles.
Nelms started off singles competition by winning in straight sets by scores of 6-0, 6-1. With the win Nelms improves to 7-1 on the season.
Pfeiffer sealed the victory as Lindsay defeated her opponent in straight sets to give the Falcons their fifth point, thus clinching the win.
The Falcons swept through the remaining four positions in straight sets as they earned their eighth consecutive win to start the season.
Pfeiffer returns to action Thursday, March 13 as they travel to Lenoir-Rhyne. The match is set to start at 2:00 p.m.
