HICKORY, N.C. - The Pfeiffer women's tennis team made it absolutely clear on Thursday afternoon that they weren't prepared to give up their first loss of the season just yet. The Falcons have been on a tear this season, defeating every team they've faced, with today's matchup with Lenoir-Rhyne being no exception. Following nine matches, Pfeiffer came away with the 7-2 victory, improving to a staggering 9-0 on the season.
The Falcons went 2-1 in doubles play, getting wins from the duo of junior Taylor Lindsay and sophomore Valeria Mendoza, as well as the pairing of freshmen Amanda Long and Mylene Petitpas. Lindsay and Mendoza improve to 8-1 on the season in doubles play with Long and Petitpas extending their doubles unbeaten streak to five.
In singles action Pfeiffer finished 5-1, picking up wins from Long, Petitpas, Mendoza, senior Briana Oliver, and sophomore Hannah Watson. With today's victories, Mendoza is now 8-0 in season singles play and Petitpas and Watson improve to 7-1.
Pfeiffer returns to action on March 15th when they host conference foe Lees-McRae. Match time is set for 2:00 p.m.
