| Baseball Falls to Catawba 3-0 |

| Misenheimer, NC---Pfeiffer's baseball team dropped a close 3-0 decision to visiting Catawba Tuesday afternoon. The Falcons got strong pitching from starter Ben Beard and Chris Russell but were not able to push across any runs. Justin Ridenhour went 2 for 4 to lead Pfeiffer at the plate. Catawba got on the board in the second with two runs. Thomas drove home one on a single and the second scored on a Pfeiffer throwing error. Pfeiffer opened the fifth with hits from Kyle Pugh and Justin Ridenhour but could not score. Catawba added a run in the sixth to take a 3-0 lead. Pfeiffer again got the first two base runners on in the eighth thanks to two walks but were unable to capitalize and failed to score. Ben Beard started for Pfeiffer and pitched five innings giving up only 1 earned run. Chris Russell pitched four strong innings in relief, giving up only one unearned run. Pfeiffer falls to 3-2 on the season. The Falcons travel to Lander this weekend with single games on Friday at 4 pm and Saturday at 1 pm. |
