MISENHEIMER, N.C. - For the first time in over five years, the Pfeiffer women's tennis has started the season 10-0, dominating almost every opponent they've faced thus far. The tenth straight win came Saturday afternoon when the Falcons defeated visiting Lees-McRae 9-0 to improve to 2-0 in Conference Carolinas. Lees-McRae falls to 1-8 overall and 0-2 in conference play with the loss.
Doubles play was all Pfeiffer, with wins coming from the duos of junior Taylor Lindsay and sophomore Valeria Mendoza, freshman Olivia Nelms and sophomore Hannah Watson, and freshmen Mylene Petitpas and Amanda Long. With the doubles victories, Mendoza and Lindsay improve to 9-1 extending their win streak to four, Nelms an Watson improve to 9-1, and Petitpas and Long extend their unbeaten streak to six.
The Falcons also dominated singles play, picking up wins from Nelms, Lindsay, Mendoza, Watson, Petitpas, and senior Briana Oliver. Mendoza extends her singles unbeaten streak to nine, starting the season a 9-0 tear. Petitpas won her fifth straight match to improve to 8-1, Watson also improved to 8-1 and picked up her third straight victory, with Nelms following suit improving to 7-1 in singles play.
Pfeiffer returns to action on March 19th when they take on conference rival King at home. Match time is set for 2:00 p.m.
