MISENHEIMER, NC – On the day where they were ranked 10th in the region, the Pfeiffer women’s tennis team (11-0, 3-0 CC) ran its winning streak to 11 games with a dominant 5-0 win over King (7-9, 2-4) on Wednesday afternoon. The game was played to five due to a late start caused by weather.
The Falcons remained perfect with a strong showing from each member of the team. Pfeiffer swept through doubles competition effortlessly, winning by scores of 8-0, 8-3 and 8-0. The duo of Taylor Lindsay and Valeria Mendoza along with the team of Briana Oliver and Amanda Long shut out King in first and third doubles respectively.
Olivia Nelms won in straight sets in the first singles position, defeating King’s top singles player Katya Cerny. Lindsay beat Naomi Reyes 6-2 and 6-0 to give the Falcons the 5-0 win. At the conclusion of the fifth game, reigning Conference Carolinas Player of the Week Mendoza was up 6-1 and 4-2 in third singles and Hannah Watson held a 1-0 lead in fourth singles.
The Falcons look to continue its torrid start to the season when they travel to Barton on Saturday afternoon. The match is set to begin at 2 p.m. in Wilson, NC.
