MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Pfeiffer baseball team dropped a hard fought non-conference matchup against the visiting Brevard Tornados on Thursday afternoon at Joe Ferebee Field. The Falcons were outhit ten to seven and outscored 4-1 in the loss. With the loss, Pfeiffer falls to 24-16 and Brevard improves to 16-25 on the season.
The Tornados jumped off to a quick start as they jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning. The two runs came off of O’Hara’s single to left field.
Pfeiffer retaliated in the bottom of the third inning as Tyler Summers singled through the left side with runners on the corners. Kevin Price crossed the plate for the Falcons only run as they clawed back into the game, trailing 2-1.
Despite giving up a run, Brevard tacked on two more runs in the top of the fourth inning. After walking the bases loaded, Craig Jacobelli gave up another two run single to left field. The Tornados extended the lead to 4-1, a lead that would not change for the remainder of the game.
The Falcons only accounted for four more hits over the next six innings as Kevin Hamilton buckled down to finish off the complete game victory for Brevard.
Jacobelli fell to 1-2 on the season as he picked up the loss while pitching five innings, giving up four runs on six hits.
Jesse Park and Anthony Allende were called to relieve Jacobelli as they combined four innings of work and giving up only four hits.
The Falcons were paced offensively by Price who went 2-for-4 from the plate and scored Pfeiffer’s only run of the evening.
The Falcons return to action tomorrow as they host Barton in a Conference Carolinas series at Joe Ferebee Field. The first pitch is set for 3:30 p.m.
