CENTRAL, S.C. – The Pfeiffer men and women’s tennis team ended the season with convincing wins as they throttled Southern Wesleyan 9-0 in both matches. The men improve to 13-4 on the season while the women improve to 17-1.
On the men’s side, the doubles competition went in favor of Pfeiffer as the team of Loic Minery and Sebastian Wernecke started off in convincing fashion with an 8-1 win at the number one slot. Bret Williams and Stephen Miller took care of action in the number two spot as they won 8-5. The Falcons won 8-2 in the number three doubles spot as Axel Woerner and Orlando Castillo handed Pfeiffer the 3-0 lead headed into singles competition.
Pfeiffer handled singles competition with ease as each competitor won in their respective positions, giving the Falcons the 9-0 victory in their last match before the conference tournament.
The women’s side was more out of reach than the men’s as the Falcons only surrendered one point on the whole day.
Pfeiffer swept doubles competition 8-0 in each position to gain the early 3-0 edge.
The Falcons took care of business in singles play, winning every game in straight sets to cap off their record season.
Pfeiffer women’s team is set to return to action Tuesday, April 15 as they will host UNC Pembroke at 2:30 p.m. The men’s team will return to action Thursday, April 24 as they will compete in the Conference Carolinas Tournament.
