SUMTER, SC – The Pfeiffer men’s tennis team (13-5) was knocked out of the Conference Carolinas tournament in the quarterfinals by No. 5 seed Limestone (13-7) by a final score of 5-1 on Friday afternoon. The loss ends Pfeiffer’s season, while the Saints advance to tomorrow’s semifinal round.
Limestone secured wins in the second and third doubles spots to run out to an early 2-0 advantage. Pfeiffer’s top pair of Loic Minery and Sebastian Wernecke would post the Falcons lone victory of the afternoon with a hard fought 8-6 victory over Limestone’s top duo.
The Saints dominated singles play, winning in third, fourth and sixth singles to clinch the victory. Minery had the advantage in his singles matchup, but went unfinished as Limestone reached five victories to end the match.
