|Jefferson City, TN---Pfeiffer Baseball improved to 13-9 with a 7-3 non-conference win over Carson-Newman Wednesday afternoon. |
C-N (14-7) fell behind early as Pfeiffer's Tyler Smith scored on an RBI groundout to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. The Falcons added another run when rightfielder Jason Gray misplayed a single by Pfeiffer's Daniel Brown for a 2-0 Falcon lead.
The Eagles cut the lead in half in the sixth inning.
However,the Falcons added two runs on an RBI double by Jodie Groce in the eighth and two errors by pitcher Corbin Arial led to a three-run inning for the Falcons. Logan Simmons walked Pfeiffer first baseman Bryan Braxton with the bases loaded and the Falcons later scored runs on a throwing error by Eagle catcher Jonathan McMahon and a fielder's choice. The Eagles added two runs in the ninth on RBI singles by Burchfield and Nick Achberger, but The Falcons' Chris Russell struck out Derrick Long for the final out.
Pfeiffer will travel to Barton for a weekend series. A double-header will be played Saturday at Noon with a single game Sunday at 1:00 pm.
