|Falcons Drop Opener in 2 OT|

|Brevard, NC---The Pfeiffer (0-1) men's soccer team lost a tough 2-1 decision to host Brevard (1-0) in double overtime Thursday afternoon. It was the season opener for both teams. After a scoreles first half, Pfeiffer grabbed a 1-0 lead on a Matt Harris penalty kick in the 77th minute. |
Brevard came back and tied the game at 1 in the 83rd minute. After a long Brevard free kick bounced around in fron of the Falcon goal Miro Mustonen was able to slot it into the lower left corner for the Tornado goal.
Pfeiffer had several good scoring chances late in the game but couldn't finish and so the game went into overtime.
In the first overtime the Falcons again had several good opportunities but could not break the deadlock.
Another free kick led to Brevard's second goal. After an initial stop by the Falcon goalie the rebound was slipped in by Kyle Hamilton for the 2-1 decision.
Coach Hassler said, "We played well but just couldn't finish enough to win. Our backs and keeper played well. We saw a lot of good things from today's game unfortunately the final score wasn't one of them."
Pfeiffer opens their home season this Saturday August 25th against USC-Aiken. Game time is 4:00 pm.
