Falcons Fall to Catawba

elmore.jpgSALSIBURY, NC -- Catawba downed visiting Pfeiffer in three games in volleyball action on Saturday afternoon. The Catawba Indians won by the scores of 30-25, 30-19 and 30-23. The Lady Indians improve to 15-3, while Pfeiffer falls to 10-6.

Catawba led for most of game one and pulled out to a 24-17 edge after a pair of kills by Mai Zoua Lo . Pfeiffer would rally, scoring four straight points, including an ace from Morgan Liebert, but Catawba held at least a three-point edge the rest of the way.

The Lady Indians took an early 10-6 lead in the second game and would build its edge to 24-11 following a 9-2 run.

Pfeiffer stayed close most of the final game, pulling within 18-16 on an ace by Petra Ljubicic. Leading 23-20, Catawba got a kill and an ace from Henderson to go up 25-20 and went on to end the game.

Lauren Elmore (Chapel Hill, NC) led Pfeiffer with 13 kills. Morgan Liebert added 32 assists and 10 digs.

Pfeiffer will host Anderson at 7:00 pm on Tuesday.
