| MARS HILL, NC - The Mars Hill baseball team defeated Pfeiffer University Wednesday afternoon at Henderson Field, 14-10. Mars Hill improved to 25-17 while the Falcons dropped to 20-21 on the year. The Lions scored the first run of the game in the bottom half of the first inning when Austin Boehme scored on a wild pitch. The Falcons took a three-run lead in the fourth inning on six hits highlighted by a three-run homerun from Shawn Coke and a solo homerun by Hayes Hinson. The Lions answered scoring three runs in the bottom half of the inning on three hits. After five more hits and one Falcon miscue, the Lions enjoyed a 10-5 advantage after the fifth inning. Coffey singled up the middle in the sixth inning to plate Williams and make the score 11-5. Pfeiffer fought back in the top of the seventh inning scoring three runs on three hits. Eric Shoemaker had a two-RBI single in the inning. MHC matched the Falcons effort in their next at-bat plating three runs of their own thanks in large part to Coffey who hit a double to score two of the three runs.
