| Pfeiffer Stops Queens 97-88 |

| Misenheimer, NC---In an incredible comeback Pfeiffer overcame a 16 point halftime defecit to defeat Queens 97-88 in men's basketball action Saturday night. Trailing by 16 the Falcons exploded for 61 points in the second half to claim the victory. Pfeiffer is now 4-3 overall and 2-1 in the conference. Queens fals to 3-1 and 2-1. Pfeiffer grabbed an early 11-8 lead after five minutes. Queens came back and took a nine-point lead until a Thomas Carr three-pointer made the score 29-23 in favor of Queens with 10:30 left. With 6 minutes to go Robert McGriff driving lay-up cut the Queen lead to 43-34. Pfeiffer had no answer in the first half for Darnell Evans who had 26 points in the first half as the Royals ook a 52-36 lead into the break. Pfeiffer started the second half on a 5-0 run. A Carr "3" brought the Falcons within 9 at 64-55 with 13 minutes to go. Two straight Carr theree-pointers cut it to 69-63 with 10:30 left. Jeff Pettiwa made a driing lay-up for the Falcons to bring them within one at 76-75 with just 4:50 to go. Crig Thomas tied the game at 77 when he hit a five-foot baseline jumper. Derrick Truesdale hit a lay-up to tie the game at 79. He missed the following free throw but Chris Woods pulled down the rebound and hit a lay-up to give Pfeiffer the lead 8-79 with 3:20 to go. A Clyde Chapman thunderous dunk with 1:09 left gave the Falcons a 91-82 advantage. Pfeiffer hit their free throws and won 97-88. Clyde Chapman had 23 points to lead Pfeiffer. Tomas Carr added 22, including 6 three-pointers. Darnell Evans led Quens with 27 points but had only one in the seond half. Pfeiffer is off for two weeks. They will host Davis and Elkins on December 15th at 2:00 pm. |
