| Charlotte, NC---The #13 Pfeiffer Falcons defeated Queens in CVAC men's basketball action Saturday night. The Falcons never trailed during the game as they used 36 points by DeMario Grier to improve to 11-2 over-all and 5-1 in the conference. Queens falls to 9-4 and 5-1. Pfeiffer used four quick points by Logan Call to build an early 8-3 lead. Queens came back and cut the Falcon lead to two at 18-16. The two teams played evenly the next couple of minutes but with the score 24-22 the Falcons exploded on a 15-3 run to build their lead to 14 at the 5:16 mark. Pfeiffer went into halftime leading 41-31. A Craig Thomas field goal capped a 6-0 Falcon run to start the second half as the lead grew to 16, 47-31. A Thomas Carr three-pointer pushed the Falcon lead to 18, 56-38 with five minutes gone in the second half. Queens fought back and cut the lead to ten, 80-70, with 7:25 to go. This is when DeMario Grier took over scoring nine points on an 11-1 Pfeiffer run that saw their lead go to 20 with five minutes to go. Pfeiffer hit their free throws down the stretch, ending the game at 87%, to win 106-88. Grier ended the game with 36 points. Thomas Carr went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc to score 18. Robert McGriff added 13 points. Pfeiffer won the rebounding battle 48-32 and forced 21 turnovers. The Falcons shot 11-22 from "3" and and 87% from the free throw line. Pfeiffer will return to action Monday when they travel to Lees-McRae for a 5:30 pm tip-off.
