| Falcons Lose 66-63 |

| Misenheimer, NC---The Pfeiffer women’s basketball team lost 66-63 to conference rival Belmont-Abbey Tuesday evening. Ashelle Athill had 22 points and 7 steals for the Falcons but it wasn’t enough as Pfeiffer falls to 10-16 overall and 7-12 in the conference. Belmont-Abbey now stands at 18-9 and 13-7. The Falcons defense forced several turnovers early on and grabbed a 13-3 lead after five minutes. The two teams fought back and forth for the next few minutes as the Falcons held on to a 21-13 advantage. Abbey then went on a 16-0 run to take a 29-21 lead with 5:36 to go. Octavia Trammell hit a “3” to stop the Crusader run. Nicole Maready hit a lay-up with eight seconds left to bring the Falcons to within seven at halftime, 37-30. Pfeiffer used a 10-0 run to get back in the game early in the second half. They trailed by only one, 41-40, aftrr the run. A 7-0 run later gave the Falcons the lead at 52-46 with 8:47 to go. Abbey cut it to two but Ashelle Athill hit two free throws to give Pfeiffer a 58-54 advantage with 2:49 left. However, Abbey went on a 10-0 run and held on for a 66-63 win. Pfeiffer travels to Limestone Friday night for their last game of the regular season. The game will start at 5:30 pm. |
