dickens.jpgMisenheimer, NC---The Pfeiffer volleyball team defeated conference foe Converse 3-0 (30-24,30-21,30-24) Friday evening. Pfeiffer improves to 18-10 overall and 11-6 in the conference. Converse falls to 3-25 overall and 3-14 in the conference.

The Falcons came out firing and grabbed an early 10-6 lead. The serving of Petra Ljubicic helped Pfeiffer go on a 5-0 run to build the Falcon lead to 17-9. Converse came back and cut the lead to 21-18 but the Falcons responded with a 4-0 run to build the led to 7 at 25-18. Pfeiffer kept up their strong play won game one 30-24.

Game two started out tight. Converse took a 10-9 lead. Later two straight kills by Brittany Dickens gave Pfeiffer a 14-12 advantage. The Falcons slowly expanded their lead and a Dickens’ block gave Pfeiffer a 30-21 win in game two.

Pfeiffer went on a 10-0 run early in game three to grab a 13-3 lead. A Sheena Mashore kill stopped a 9-0 Converse run and kept the Falcons in the lead at 14-12. Converse hung tough and found themselves down 23-21 but the Falcons then went on a 5-0 run to take a commanding 28-21 lead. Pfeiffer went on to win game three 30-24.

Pfeiffer was led by Lauren Elmore who had 6 kills. Brittany Dickens had 8 blocks. Morgan Liebert added 16 assists and Brittney Poole had 16 digs.

Converse was led by Susannah White who had 9 kills. Alicia Staffored had 22 assists and Marissa Coleman had 23 digs.

Pfeiffer will play at Anderson tomorrow at 2:00 pm.
