| BANNER ELK, NC – The Pfeiffer Falcons won a hard fought 18-15 contest over Conference Carolinas rival Lees-McRae Monday afternoon at Tate Field. The Lady Falcons even their record at 8-8 (5-5 Conference Carolinas) while the Lady Bobcats are now 1-14 (0-10). The Falcons grabbed an 8-0 lead, but the Lady Bobcats battled back and made a game out of it. The Lady Bobcats got to within five at 8-3, with 13:30 to play in the first half. Elie Fenton and Ashley Hill would respond for the Lady Falcons with a pair of goals in the next minute to give the visitors a 10-3 cushion and 12:28 remaining. Cox would add two more and Abby White her tenth as the Lady Bobcats would storm back and outscore the Lady Falcons 3-1 to end the half down 11-6. The Lady Bobcats would use the momentum built in the latter part of the first half to open things up in the second half, clawing their way back with another 3-1 run that would bring them to within three, 12-9 and just under 23 minutes to play. Jamie Livingston and Heidi Karaszkiewicz would hook up off of the ensuing draw with a nice give and go to push the lead back to four. Julia Campbell responded for the Lady Bobcats just over a minute later as the resilient Lady Bobcats continued to battle their way back into the game. Unfortunately, the damage had been done and the Lady Bobcats could get no closer than three as the teams traded one and two goal runs to the final buzzer. Hill led the way for Pfeiffer with five goals and a pair of assists. Livingston and Krissy Bentolila found the back of the net four times each wile Karaszkiewicz added a hat trick. Fenton and Sara Hebberd added singles to round out the scoring for the visitors. |
