| Charlotte, NC---The Pfeiffer women's basketball team defeated conference rival Queeens 76-69 Saturday evening at the Grady Cole Center in Charlotte. Kalee Smith had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Falcons to the victory. The Royals (5-14 overall; 5-7 conference) led by as many as eight in the first half with the Falcons (7-13 overall; 4-9 conference) taking the lead with just 41 seconds left to play. Pfeiffer led by three, 40-37, at the buzzer. In the second half, the Falcons carried their first half momentum with the help of Octavia Tramell and Shanee’ Purnell. The two combined for 15 points in the second half, totaling 16 a piece for the night. Queens out-rebounded Pfeiffer, 49-43, with Jacquia Winstead pulling down 10 for the Royals. Kaylee Smith totaled 11 rebounds for Pfeiffer, earning her a double-double with 13 points. Pfeiffr will host Barton Thursday night at 5:30 pm. |
