#7 Pfeiffer Dominates Queens

Misenheimer, NC: Pfeiffer University used a stingy defense allowing only 16 shots on their way to a 8-5 win over Queens University. The Lady Falcons out shot the Lady Royals 38-19 and controlled the draw controls 11-4. Pfeiffer improved to 8-2 on the year and 5-1 in the CVAC while Queens falls to 7-5 and 4-3.
Queen’s Erin Schultz began the scoring at the 26:40 mark before Pfeiffer answered with three straight goals from Brenna Clark, Jenn Gappert and an open net goal from Ashley Hill. Kelly Wrightson cut the lead to one with 15:20 remaining in the 1st half before Heidi Karaszkiewicz scored :18 seconds later to maintain a two goal lead. Neither team could manage another goal before the half.
Pfeiffer came out strong in the 2nd half and scored the 1st three goals to go up 7-2. The Lady Falcons held Queens to only 2 goals until the 12:23 mark but responsed quickly when Alycia Schwarz scored a minute later on an assist from Brenna Clark to maintain the five goal lead. Queens scored the final two goals in the final five minutes to finish out the scoring.
Seven different Lady Falcons scored led by Alycia Swarcz (Sr. Colorado Springs, CO) 2 goals and Brenna Clark (Sr. Wellington, FL) 1 goal, 2 assists, 4 draw controls and 3 caused turnovers.
Coach Domenech had this to say after the game, “I thought our defensive effort was great today. I would have like for us to hit the cage a few more times but otherwise a great team effort.”
Pfeiffer will be in action again on Thursday March 29th when they face CVAC foe Lees McRae College at 4:00pm.
